Boot camps are a popular and fast growing fitness trend. They are typically designed to build strength and fitness through a variety of intense group intervals over an hour or so of exercise. Exercise classes tend to vary, depending on the teacher. Fitness boot campers can expect to meet outside, come rain or shine. You’ll probably spend an hour doing some cardiovascular exercises such as: running, interval training, or obstacle course challenges -partnered with use of strength elements such as: dumbbells, exercise bands, or the resistance of your own body weight.
Take a peek at some helpful pre and post “boot camp” beauty tips from our beauty and style expert. It’s okay to look pretty while you perspire. After all, fit is the new BEAUTIFUL!
I join my fellow campers 4 times a week to sweat, tone, grunt it out. Glamorous right!? Well it definitely can be. I have my handy must-haves to get me through this intense hour. Other than my water, weights and THICK mat, I enjoy the little things that make a big difference in my workout.
Here’s my routine:
• I start my morning with a cold face wash using my daily cleanser (get rid of that buildup before those pores open when working up a sweat) and finish with my natural oil free SPF face moisturizer. I use this year round. Most boot camps are outside and you should be protected. My must have products are:
Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser
Clarins UV Plus Day Screen SPF 40
• Fashion and function. The right tennis shoes and sports bra are a must. Comfort and support are key. I also make sure my workout clothes have the right support and the material breaths. If you’re not sweating you’re not working hard enough. Buy a top that keeps you dry! A few of my favorite outfits are:
• Let’s talk hair… As a professional hairstylist, hair is always on my mind. And out of control hair is not an option when running, doing burpees (ugh!), and a million squats. The answer… BRAIDS!!! I’m a big fan of braids. They keep the hair bound and out of your face. Perfect if you want to get those bangs out of your face as well. Here are a few styles I use myself.
• little extras that are helpful and can be kept in your workout bag:
Hi, I'm Tiffany Bowler. I heart helping people look and feel fabulous! I am a Southern California native, and former student of the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles. I moved to Austin, Texas in 2008. In 2009, I took my love of art and fashion and channeled it into my career as a stylist, working with several well known and up and coming designers. I graduated with honors from Paul Mitchell Academy. I enjoy spotlighting and showcasing my clients attributes...appreciating that true beauty starts from within. I believe when you feel good emotionally and physically, that it tends to reflect in your outer appearance as well.
I enjoy being fit. I love yoga and became gluten free over a year ago. Being a fitness enthusiast and stylist, I realize that individuals who exercise also have needs as it pertains to their personal style, whether it be hair or wardrobe needs. I enjoy helping people accommodate their personal styling needs and meet their fitness goals all in one. I heart providing you with beneficial information regarding beauty, fashion and wellness.
