It’s getting hot in here so…time to cool off with a nice cold glass of liquid nutrition! Warmer weather equals smoothie living, in my book. Smoothies are filling, yet don’t leave you bloated. They leave you refreshed and full of energy to take on the day’s activities. I have been doing some experimenting in my blender to bring you some new delicious smoothies to try out!
Smoothie Tea
A floral, fresh light smoothie to get you feeling as beautiful as the spring flowers!
-1/2 cup floral tea of choice (I like Argo Hibiscus Sangria Tea)
-1 pomegranate
-1 blood orange
-1 pear
-5 kale leaves
-small handful of cilantro
Blend away in your blender. Add ice if you would like it colder and slushy.
Beaches ‘N Cream
Take this smoothie to the beach for a nutrition packed smoothie to fuel you through any pick up beach volleyball game
-2 ripe peaches (remove pits)**
-1 small banana**
-
1/2 cup almond milk
-1/4 cup rolled oats
-1 TBS pure maple syrup
-
1 tablespoon chia seeds
**using frozen fruit will create a thicker smoothie…my personal fave**
Blend everything into blender except chia seeds. Mixture should be on the thinner side than thick side for the chia seeds to do their magic. If you think it is too thick feel free to add more almond milk, water or even some fresh squeezed orange juice. After mixture is blended, add chia seeds, stir, and let sit for at least 20 minutes. This will thicken up the smoothie as the chia seeds soak up the liquid and expand. The longer they sit the thicker your smoothie so feel free to hit the beach and soak in the sun before sipping on this goodness.
Sneaky Strawberry Lemonade
You’ll get a serving of veggies in this smoothie without even knowing it. A great way to quench your thirst on a hot day.
-1/2 cup pure coconut water (preferable right out of the coconut but some store bought brands are great)
-1 cup organic strawberries, steams removed
-juice from ½ of large organic lemon
-1 generous handful of organic spinach
-2 pitted dates to add sweetness
-6 to 8 cubes of ice
Blend away in your blender.
**If you want more thickness to your smoothie feel free to add in some of the coconut skin from your coconut for added healthy fats to keep you full. This is the way to create more of a snack out of the drink instead of just a healthy thirst quencher!**
