Top “Must-Try” Fitness Trends of 2014

Just when you thought fitness couldn’t get any better, more amazing fitness trends have now entered the workout scene. The hottest new fitness trends are quickly moving former headliners like Zumba,stability ball workouts and Pilates down the popularity list. So what are the latest fitness faves. Take a look at a few of the newest trends, according to The American College of Sports Medicine’s survey of the top 20 global fitness trends, and  the up and coming picks of 2014.
High Intensity Interval Training( HIIT)

This type of exercise alternates short bursts of maximum activity with brief periods of rest or recovery. Most of these super-intense workouts are under 30 minutes, which is about all most people can handle.Although it has been around for decades, HIIT has been increasing in popularity  with thanks to amazing programs like P90X andCrossFit and the surge of Tabata training.

Body Weight Training

 No time for hand weights or dumbbells Have no fear, bodyweight exercises are here! Body weight exercises require little to no equipment which make it a convenient and inexpensive option for building muscle, boosting cardiovascular fitness, burning fat and achieving overall strength. Pull-ups are a common bodyweight exercise.  Plyometrics have become a popular form of bodyweight training. Ideal for yielding great fitness gains in short workout durations.
